Netherlands-based telecommunication player MSO (multi-service operator) UNET has chosen Nortel Networks to provide it with a (ultra-high speed) internet system for businesses as well as homes in the country be leveraging a Nortel Ethernet Access solution. UNET, which offers its services n the broadband and next generational internet protocol segments, is focusing on wholesale as well as B2B markets in the European country. The firm plans to use Nortel Networks' Ethernet Access solution to overcome the obstacles encountered in last-mile. Nortel's solution makes use of the WDM-PON architecture and allows the transmission of multiple wavelengths on existing fiber. UNET plans to use its optical network to provide fiber-to-the business infrastructure to communities located outside key city centers.
