Global telecom market is likely to touch $2 trillion

A new Gartner report has said that the global telecom market is expected to reach a massive $2 trillion by the end of this year. The report added that the Asia Pacific telecom segment is well placed to grow 8% this year to reach $513.1 billion, thus overtaking North America. However, Middle East and Africa is currently fasting growing region and is likely to achieve a CAGR of around 8.6% between 2007-2012. The report added that landline services would continue to slump, adding that mobile phones would beat landlines by a 4:1 ratio. In another study, Gartner, which reckons that the global mobile voice market would begin to stagnate by 2012, has said that the Indian telecom market is likely to reach $54 billion by 2012.
