Dialog Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent’s convergent payment solution for the delivery of MVNO services

A mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is a company that provides mobile phone service but does not have its own licensed frequency allocation of radio spectrum, nor does it necessarily have all of the infrastructure required to provide mobile telephone service.

Dialog Telecom, one of the leading alternative telecommunication operators in Poland, has selected Alcatel-Lucent’s convergent payment solution for its Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services.

The Alcatel-Lucent 8610 Instant Convergent Charging Suite (ICC), based on the Open Services Platform, will give Dialog the capacity to expand its convergent service offering with mobile prepaid and post-paid services. Alcatel-Lucent will also integrate the platform with the core network of a mobile network operator, acting as a host for Dialog’s mobile services, as Dialog, a virtual operator, doesn’t own a network.

“Dialog wants to be a leader in service convergence among independent operators in Poland. As one of the leading brands in the Polish telecommunication market we are in good position to integrate our fixed, Internet and multimedia services with a mobile portfolio and create a winning quadruple-play service bundle” said Piotr Mazurkiewicz, President of Management Board of Dialog Telecom. He also added that “We chose Alcatel-Lucent because we are convinced that the MVNO capabilities of their solution provide the performance and flexibility required for creating attractive and reliable services for our customers. It was also very important that Alcatel-Lucent has the references of a leading integrator of telecommunication systems, and these skills are vital for the success of this project.”

This MVNO factor is increasing more and more in the today cut throat economic Telecom market. This will ensure the optimal use of existing resources in the dynamic, unstable nature of telecom industry. In small counties only two to three operator are enough to provide mobile phone service. But telephone Regulatory board must ensure the price and quality of service to the consumers.
