Australian company Optus has threatened to withdraw its investment in landline networks in case the government awards the National Broadband Network (NBN) tender to its rival Telstra in November. Optus CEO Paul Sullivan has said that the NBN tender offers the only hope for fair competitiveness in the country's landline infrastructure. The company is presently the biggest member of the Terria Consortium, which is vying for the NBN tender along with Telstra. Meanwhile O'Sullivan said that if the deal is awarded to Telstra, then Optus would be forced to eye other investment opportunities.
